Beetlejuice 2 Officially a Go with Tim Burton and Johnny Depp Back
After years of speculation, the sequel to the beloved 1988 film Beetlejuice is finally moving forward with Tim Burton back as director and Johnny Depp set to reprise his iconic role.
The news was first reported by Giant Freakin Robot in 2023, which claimed that Depp would be appearing in the sequel. Now, it has been confirmed that Burton will indeed be directing Beetlejuice 2, with a juicy role for Depp, possibly even the title role.
The original Beetlejuice starred Michael Keaton as the titular ghost who helps a recently deceased couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) scare away the new family (Catherine O'Hara and Jeffrey Jones) that has moved into their home. The film was a critical and commercial success, and it has since become a cult classic.
Details about the plot of Beetlejuice 2 are still under wraps, but it is expected to feature some franchise newcomers, including Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe. Danny DeVito is also set to make a cameo appearance, reprising his role as the eccentric neighbor, Otho.
Fans of the original film are eagerly awaiting the release of Beetlejuice 2, which is expected to hit theaters in 2025.
