Amateur Soccer Player Found Dead with Gunshot Wound to His Head

The Buenos Aires police are investigating the incident.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — A player from an amateur soccer league in Buenos Aires was found dead with a gunshot wound to his head, police said Tuesday.

The body of 24-year-old Williams Alexander Tapón was found near a train station a few blocks away from his residence in a suburb south of the city. The police are investigating the incident.

Tapón was a member of the La Victoria soccer club in the southern suburbs of Buenos Aires. He was known for his aggressive play and had been involved in several altercations with opponents and referees.

In one incident, Tapón was caught on video kicking a referee in the head during a match. The incident sparked outrage and led to Tapón being banned from playing for the rest of the season.

Tapón's death has shocked the local soccer community. Friends and family members said he was a troubled young man who had been struggling with depression and anxiety.

The police are investigating the incident and have not ruled out the possibility of suicide.
