Doncic and Irving Combine for 63 Points
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving combined for 63 points as the Dallas Mavericks beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-105 in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series on Sunday night.
Doncic led the way for the Mavericks with 30 points, while Irving added 33 points. Anthony Edwards led the Timberwolves with 27 points, and Karl-Anthony Towns added 22 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mavericks took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Timberwolves 32-23. Doncic and Irving combined for 20 points in the quarter, and the Mavericks led by 10 points heading into the fourth quarter.
The Timberwolves cut the lead to five points in the final minutes, but the Mavericks held on for the win. Doncic made a pair of free throws with 10.3 seconds remaining to seal the victory.
The Mavericks will host the Timberwolves in Game 2 on Tuesday night.
