Pete Townshend Retires from Touring After Stroke

Music Legend Suffers Minor Stroke at 79

Townshend, known for his work with The Who, has announced his retirement from touring after suffering a minor stroke.

The 79-year-old rock legend was hospitalized in June after experiencing a "transient ischemic attack" (TIA), which is a temporary interruption of blood flow to the brain. Townshend was diagnosed with a minor stroke and underwent treatment. He has since recovered, but his doctors have advised him to avoid strenuous activity, including touring.

Townshend released a statement on his website, saying that he is "deeply disappointed" to have to retire from touring, but that he understands that his health must come first. He thanked his fans for their support over the years and said that he hopes to continue to make music in the future.
