Taddeucci, who specializes in the 10km swim, finished the grueling race with a time of 2:02.40, just behind gold medalist Ana Marcela Cunha of Brazil (2:01.53) and silver medalist Sharon van Rouwendaal of the Netherlands (2:01.58).

Taddeucci's victory marks a historic moment for Italian swimming, as it is the first time an Italian woman has won a medal in the 10km open swim at the Olympics.
