Diamondbacks Rainy Opener Postponed

Diamondbacks' Rainy Opener Postponed

Fans Disappointed as Weather Delays First Game of Season

The Arizona Diamondbacks' season opener against the San Diego Padres was postponed at Chase Field on Thursday due to rain. The game was scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m., but was delayed for over two hours before being officially postponed at 3:30 p.m.

The rain started falling in the Phoenix area around 11 a.m. and continued throughout the afternoon. The Diamondbacks grounds crew worked to keep the field playable, but the rain was too heavy and the game was eventually postponed.

The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, April 8. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 1:10 p.m., and the second game will start approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.

Fans who had tickets to Thursday's game can exchange them for tickets to any other regular season game during the 2023 season, subject to availability.

The Diamondbacks are scheduled to open their season on the road against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.
