A time to reflect, remember, and honor those who lost their lives

Annual event draws hundreds to remember victims of 9/11

The annual Madison County 9/11 Walk to Remember will be held at 8:45 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Madison County Courthouse Plaza in downtown Huntsville. The walk is a time to reflect, remember, and honor the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The event is free and open to the public. Participants can register online or on the day of the event. The walk will begin with a brief ceremony, followed by a 1.5-mile walk around the courthouse square.

Hundreds of people participate in the walk each year. Many participants carry signs with the names of victims of the 9/11 attacks. Others carry American flags or wear patriotic clothing.

  • The walk is a way to show support for the victims of 9/11 and their families.
  • It is also a way to remember the first responders who risked their lives to save others on that day.
  • The walk is a reminder that we must never forget the events of 9/11 and the importance of unity and patriotism.
