The Former White Stripes Frontman Criticizes Unauthorized Use Of Seven Nation Army

Jack White Blasts Trump Campaign in Instagram Post Over Song in Video

The Former White Stripes Frontman Criticizes Unauthorized Use of "Seven Nation Army"

White: " This is not a political endorsement...Please remove the song..."

Jack White has criticized the Trump campaign's unauthorized use of his song "Seven Nation Army" in a video posted to Instagram. In a statement released through his label, Third Man Records, White said that he "in no way" endorses the campaign and demanded that the song be removed.

"Trump's re-election campaign has willfully misappropriated a song written about my deepest fears about the trajectory of humanity – both environmentally and socially," White said in the statement.

  • The video, which was posted to Instagram on Sunday, features footage of Trump supporters waving American flags and chanting "USA."
  • The song "Seven Nation Army" is heard playing in the background.
  • White has a history of criticizing Trump and his policies.

The Trump campaign has not yet responded to White's request to remove the song.

White's criticism of the Trump campaign is the latest in a series of high-profile musicians who have spoken out against the president's use of their music.

  • In 2016, the Rolling Stones threatened to sue Trump if he continued to use their music at his rallies.
  • In 2018, Neil Young demanded that Trump stop using his song "Rockin' in the Free World."
  • Earlier this year, Pharrell Williams sent a cease-and-desist letter to the Trump campaign after they used his song "Happy" in a campaign ad.

The use of music without permission is a violation of copyright law. Copyright holders have the exclusive right to control how their work is used.

The Trump campaign's unauthorized use of "Seven Nation Army" is likely to raise legal questions. It is possible that White could sue the campaign for copyright infringement.
